There is one more thing for which your air conditioning relies on the receiver-drier. There are elements within the receiver-drier that catch and soak up moisture. This is vital, since excess moisture can wreak absolute havoc on your A/C.
Of course, the receiver-drier is just one part of your A/C system that could malfunction. You could also run into problems with your automobile air compressor, in which case your A/C will not work. As with the receiver-drier, if the compressor fails, you'll want to replace it with a new part.
